Ms. Devakani Suresh Kumar
Baccalaureate in Optometry
Devakani Kumar is a graduate of the Elite School of Optometry, Medical and Vision Research Foundation, Chennai, India (affiliated to the University of California).
Devakani is a highly qualified optometrist with more than 15 years’ experience, and has worked as lead optometrist in reputed leading eye care centres and hospitals in India and Dubai.
Her area of expertise lies in pediatric and geriatric optometry. She is an expert in prescribing and fitting all types of contact lenses in infants and children including soft, rigid gas permeable, and hybrid lenses to cater to a range of eye conditions. She was recently trained in the UK for scleral contact lenses. She also correct vision of patients who have low vision, using special devices, who otherwise cannot be treated with glasses or contact lenses.
Her other fields of interest are special investigations, such as corneal scans, Fundus Photography, Fluorescein Angiogram, and Electro Diagnostic Procedures including ERG, EOG and VEP.
In addition to her clinical practice, Devakani has a commitment to community health and has led free eye camps, vision screening programmes and organised free medical frames and lenses for the needy. She also supports the Spastics Society of India.
Devakani has published several articles, conducted workshops on refraction and contact lenses and presented papers in international conferences.
Ms. Eden Vergara
Baccalaureate in Optometry
Eden graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Optometry from the Centro Escolar University, Philippines.
She has more than 14 years’ experience as a practising optometrist in well-known eye hospitals in the UAE. Whilst specialising in contact lens fittings, Eden’s other fields of interest include Pre-Lasik Testing, Visual Field Analyser, Corneal Topography, Fundus Photography, IOL and Calibrating Excimer Laser.
Hanie Lyn P. Gonato
Doctor of Optometry
Ms Gonato is an optometrist (Southwestern University, Cebu, Philippines) and holds a Fellowship in Pediatric Optometry, Orthoptics and Vision Therapy from Dr. Shroff Charity Eye Hospital, New Delhi, India.
Hanie has more than 14 years of experience in the practice of Optometry including 8 years of experience in clinical optometry. She has worked in a number of clinical and training roles with eye institutes in the UAE. Hanie has recently worked for a specialist contact lens company based in the UK. She has an extensive experience in many complex contact lens fittings for eye conditions such as Keratoconus, ocular surface disease and high/complex prescriptions.
Hanie has a special interest in paediatric visual and LASIK assessments and has worked closely with cornea, glaucoma, cataract and retina consultants to perform specialist optometric assessment. Hanie has a great passion on fitting corneal and scleral contact lenses for Keratoconus or patients with ocular surface disease.
Ms. Nivetha Easwaran
Nivetha graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Optometry from Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital in Chennai, India. She is a talented and highly motivated optometrist with strong clinical training in different fields of optometry. She gained a good experience during her internship and in her recent clinical roles. She worked as Clinical optometrist at a leading hospital in Chennai, India, and was involved in vision therapy.
Nivetha’s areas of interest lies in Refraction, prescribing glasses and advising on proper spectacle frame and medical lenses selection that suits the specific prescription.
She has special interest in fitting soft contact lenses, both Monofocal and Multifocal and in investigations, such as Visual fields analyzer, retinal, and corneal scans.
She has actively taken part in vision screening events.
Doctor of Optometry (Dean’s List)
Graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry, having previously gained a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry (with High Honours), University of Illinois.
Dipa has been trained in the United States, and has over 15 years of clinical experience. She has completed internships in specialty contact lens fitting, pediatrics and binocular vision disorders, low vision rehabilitation, and medical optometry.
Her area of focus is specialty contact lens fitting. Depending on the needs of her patients, she utilizes a wide variety of lenses including soft, rigid gas permeable, hybrid and scleral. She has substantial experience in contact lens fits for patients with keratoconus, irregular cornea, post corneal transplant, corneal scarring, disfigured eyes, aphakia, high hypermetropia/myopia/astigmatism, and presbyopia.
Her other interest includes pediatric optometry in which she prescribes myopia control contact lenses for children. She is also extensively involved in pre-operative assessments for refractive surgery patients.
She continues to research, and lecture on, her areas of interest.
In the past, she has provided school eye exams for a local district and volunteered eye care services for Prevent Blindness, the Lions Club, and the Special Olympics.
