Dr Borasio graduated magna cum lauda from the University of Torino before specialising in Ophthalmology at the same University. He then moved to Moorfields Eye Hospital in London where he developed his career with fellowships in cataract, external eye disease, cornea and refractive surgery.

Dr Borasio has extensive experience with the Visx Star S4 IR laser and the femtosecond laser, and has been on the Faculty of the Moorfields LASIK course and the SOI International Congress. He was the developer of the BESSt formula for calculating lens powers for post-corneal surgery cataract operations and has presented the work at a number of international forums. This is currently amongst the most accurate formula in the world for this purpose. Dr Borasio is continuing a collaborative research programme with colleagues in London, having authored many peer reviewed scientific papers to date.
