Diabetic Retinopathy
Diabetes is the most common cause of vision loss in the working age population in the developed world and it is very common in the UAE. A wide variety of problems occur in diabetes that needs different types of treatment. Although the majority of people with diabetes who have had diabetes for long enough will have some degree of retinopathy, eye checks will enable early diagnosis and early treatment. If it does however develop, the eyes may require laser to the retina to stop blood vessels growing, injections into the eye to stop blood vessels leaking, or surgery to remove scar tissue or fix retinal detachments.
